Title: Hats, The Stylish Route To Sun Protection Reporter:
Date: 6/1/2009

I am captivated by hats.  After many years as a millinery designer I still find myself continually thinking about them and all they can do.  What intrigues me is their perfect combination of art and function. In protecting our skin from the harmful effects of the sun, a hat truly fulfills its role as an object of beauty and practicality:

A wide-brimmed (3 inch or greater) hat covers places where it is difficult to apply sunscreen.

When you're wearing a hat, your face has more protection than with sunscreen alone.

A hat will shade your eyes, protecting its delicate internal structures.

A hat in the summer can help keep you cool.

A hat is fun.

Also, coordinating with or accenting your swimwear with the right hat is a important as the nail polish on your toes for a chic look at the beach or pool - think movie star glamour.

Title: Thoughts on Fall 2009 Collection Reporter:
Date: 10/1/2009

In keeping with the ethos of Patricia Underwood design philosophy, the Fall/Winter 2009 collection is crafted from the finest possible materials.  Felt, leather, Scottish cashmere and fur are used to create sumptuous wearable designs to flatter rather than overwhelm the individual.  Strong emphasis is placed on shape and design, with trimmings used only as an integral part of the hat.

Traditional styles such as Patricia Underwood's signature leather cowboy, cloches and berets sit along side delightful feathers hats and headbands.  The color pallette is extensive yet wearable.  The Fall/Winter collection also includes gloves, arm-warmers and scarves for a coordinated look.
